In our ongoing effort of promoting job growth and economic development in Southeast Iowa, Restoring Iowa Jobs wants to give guest contributors a platform to talk about their organization or business on our blog.
This week’s contributor is Tim Gobble, Executive Director of the Fort Madison Partners.
Over this last month we’ve witnessed that persistence and hard work does pay off. The groundbreaking of the new Fort Madison Sports Complex last month is the culmination of hard work and dedication from many Fort Madison community leaders and residents. This Sports Complex project has been discussed for years amongst the community. With this new project, Fort Madison will be able to host sporting events from all around the area and provide the youth in our community with a state-of-the-art recreational complex.
Of course all of this could not have come to fruition without the generous financial contributions of so many citizens donating to the project, including the State of Iowa, Andy Meardon, Catfish Bend Casino, City of Fort Madison, Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison Southeast Iowa Regional Riverboat Commission, Iowa Fertilizer Company, Pinnacle Foods, Shottenkirk, and Winegard.
We must remember to thank all the businesses and individuals within the community who worked tirelessly to see this project through to the end. This new Sports Complex will provide a boost to the local economy and save on travel costs for our sports programs. In addition, it will bring in outside area teams to compete in our locally hosted tournaments.
This project is just the latest in a growing list of economic development projects in our community. I’m proud to lead the Fort Madison Partners in our effort to grow jobs in Fort Madison. We have a bright future and I’m excited to see what the future will bring. I’m glad there are groups like Restoring Iowa Jobs committed to spreading the message that Fort Madison and Southeast Iowa are open for business.
